A report by the AI-Enabled ICT Workforce Consortium reveals that 92% of IT jobs will undergo major transformations due to advancements in AI. Mid-level and entry-level positions are expected to experience the most significant changes as AI takes over tasks traditionally performed by humans. Skills such as AI literacy, rapid engineering, and large language model architecture will become crucial, while traditional skills like data management and basic programming may decline in relevance.

The consortium, comprising tech giants like Cisco, IBM, Microsoft, Intel, and SAP, underscores the urgent need for workforce reskilling and upskilling to navigate this AI-driven shift. Francine Katsoudas from Cisco emphasized the importance of intentional efforts to prevent workers from being left behind in this new era. In response, the consortium has committed to training 95 million people over the next decade to equip them with the necessary skills for an AI-driven future.

Each consortium member has set ambitious training goals, with Cisco aiming to train 25 million people in cybersecurity and digital skills by 2032, IBM focusing on 30 million by 2030, and Intel committing to 30 million by 2030. Microsoft has already surpassed its goal of certifying 10 million people by 2025, and SAP plans to upskill 2 million people worldwide by 2025. Google, on its part, is providing over $130 million to support AI training globally. This collective effort aims to create an inclusive workforce capable of thriving in the rapidly evolving AI landscape.
